Celtic lift 7th consecutive trophy and Shankland hits four – Scottish Team of the Week

For the first time in six years, Rangers top the Scottish Premiership, as Steven Gerrard’s side held out at Tynecastle for a controversial 2-1 win. At Hampden, Brendan Rodgers claimed his seventh trophy in a row for Celtic as they come out on top in the Betfred Cup final. One of the other big stories though came at Tannadice Park, as Ayr United’s Lawrence Shankland continued his dream season with four goals. Adam Mackintosh picks his team of the week.

Allan McGregor – The goalkeeper continued his fine form as Rangers won away to Hearts. His standout moment was a fine diving save from an Arnaud Djoum header.

James Tavernier – The full back was instrumental in Rangers’ 2-1 win at Tynecastle which took them to the top of the league. His crossing was outstanding, and it was no surprise that both their goals came from his deliveries.

Craig Halkett – The Livingston captain limited a Motherwell team who had scored three last week, to few chances. At the other end, his second goal of the season secured the points for Livi.

Ziggy Gordon – The defender scored as Hamilton recorded their second win over St Mirren this season. This was his first goal since returning to the club after two years away.

Greg Taylor – The Killie fullback put another good performance as they beat Hibs 3-0 at Rugby Park. The 21-year-old has struck up a formidable partnership with Jordan Jones down Kilmarnock’s left-hand side.

Ryan Christie – The winning goal in the League Cup final capped off an incredible 36 days for Christie, who since coming on at half time in the semi-final against Hearts has started every game for club and country. The only goal of the game against Aberdeen came at second attempt after his first shot was saved superbly by Joe Lewis.

Calum McGregor – The Scotland International was a driving force in Celtic’s 1-0 final win over Aberdeen. McGregor is an ever-present for Celtic and Scotland this season.

Shaun Byrne – Another fine performance for the midfielder helped Livingston to a win against Motherwell. The former Dunfermline man has excelled himself in his first season in the Premiership.

Lawrence Shankland – It may not be the Premiership but one way or another, the striker will surely be playing a higher level soon enough. He scored four as Ayr blitzed Dundee United 5-0 keeping them top of the Championship table. He is now up to 26 goals for the season.

Eamonn Brophy – A double for the former Hamilton Accies man put Kilmarnock well on their way to three points against Hibs. The striker now has seven goals for the season.

James Keatings – A goal and two assists for the striker helped Hamilton create a gap between themselves and the relegation play-off spot.
